De soufre et d'azote, Laurie Dall'Ava - Les Précipités #5

Exhibition at the Parc culturel de Rentilly - Michel Chartier

In partnership with the Parc Culturel de Rentilly - Michel Chartier, the guest artist at the fifth edition of Les Précipités will be Laurie Dall’Ava, who was a research and post-production resident artist at the CPIF in 2017.

Close to an Asian way of thinking and the Japanese concept of Ma, Laurie Dall’Ava’s work is evocative of the space between, of adjournment, the forging of links and the meaningful and calming neutrality of intervals. Her work dealing with the notion of the transformation of being develops poetical, mystical and contemplative aspects.
As part of Précipités #5, Laurie Dall’Ava is presenting a selection of images taken from different series such as Désir de neutre and l’Oracle des manipulés, which are relevant to her work in progress: Abécédaire. Les chercheurs de vérité. As a reaction against certain violent systems of separation imposed by our society, her installation evoking shamans, sorcerers and other healers of the soul should be understood as a zone of retreat and resistance. The installation’s elements are imbued with minimalism; they echo each other and move like notes of music constructing, in so doing, an otherworldly place that is difficult to define.

French artist Laurie Dall’Ava graduated in 2011 from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles. Post graduation she continued her studies at the Centro de la Imagen in Lima (Peru), after which she enrolled in the international contemporary photography research programme Reflexion Masterclass in 2012.

Les Précipités is a programme devoted to crystallisation that presents work from ongoing research projects from the Centre Photographique d’Île-de-France residency programme. It is a moment of spontaneity and provides an opportunity to surprise and innovate.
